For the Good of the Horse and Rider

Text Box: Introductions:

For those who don't already know me my name is Doug Vieweg,
I am an ex-Metropolitan Mounted Police (MMP) Officer. During my service (28yrs) I was given practitioner responsibility for the dental care of police horses.
Upon my retirement in 1999 I formed my company ‘Westrow Equine Dental Service’ and in 2001 I passed with distinction the first British equine dentistry examination which was set and hosted by the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) and the British Veterinary Dental Association (BVDA)
Until recently I was a member (No. 1 in fact) of the British Association of Equine Dental Technicians (BAEDT) and served on the committee.

Text Box: My Son Simon Vieweg joined the practice in 2002 and after working with me for the first year went to study at the American School of Equine Dentistry (ASED)
And soon after Simon passed the BEVA/BVDA EDT examination and is now a member of the BAEDT
He became a member of the International Association of Equine Dentistry (IAED) with whom he has achieved the coveted Advanced Certification, held only by two other people in the UK, and is now an elected member of the IAED Board of Directors working closely with DEFRA and LANTRA and other bodies i.e. BAEDT and World Wide UK, to set a legally recognised standard for future UK equine dentistry courses and examinations.

Text Box: The Practice Manager and the friendly voice on the telephone belongs to Nikki Andrews; my daughter pictured left with her daughter ‘Olivia’.
Nikki ably runs our diary from her home in Northern Ireland (The reason why you will usually get an answer machine).
She takes off the messages from the practice phone and calls you back as soon as she can.
Never worry if you don't hear straight away she will keep trying until she gets through to you, of course the odd message will slip through the net, your calls are important to us so if that happens Text Box: Our Company Secretary is the missus Pam pictured (right) with her horses ’Sky’ and ‘Rodney’
A keen horsewoman of many years having competed at county level in Hack and Riding Horse classes both astride and sideways.
Pam does the banking and sorts out the invoices and purchasing as well as all that laborious filing.
Sadly Sky (the dark bay) died 3rd March 2006 aged 26. and Rodney died 11th October 2007 aged 15 .
“We all miss you both RIP”

Text Box: Another sad loss.
I make this announcement in tribute to my 13 year old
 German Shepherd Dog
‘ELSA’
who sadly succumbed to her bad hip and was put to sleep on
2nd Jan 2008 .

Those who knew Elsa will remember what a lovely friendly dog she was.
She will be greatly missed by her family to whom she gave so much pleasure.
Goodbye old girl, sleep well!
